The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), formed in 1927, is a non-profit organisation training surgeons and maintaining surgical standards in Australia and New Zealand. The College’s purpose is to be the unifying force for surgery in Australia and New Zealand, with FRACS standing for excellence in surgical care.
The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, which now has 266 members, represents specialist colorectal surgeons in these two countries. Members have undertaken advanced training in colorectal surgery, and are dedicated to ongoing professional development to maintain their expertise in the diagnosis and management of intestinal and anorectal problems.
The Society adopted as its Constitution the Model Rules for Associations published by the Department of Fair Trading in NSW and the members agreed that their principal objectives would be to promote the practice of head and neck oncology, to educate medical colleagues and the public about our specialty, to foster research and to seek optimal treatment outcomes for our patients.
Founded in 1970, the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Inc (ASPS) is the peak body for Specialist Plastic Surgeons (both reconstructive and cosmetic). Our main role is to protect the integrity of plastic surgery as a specialty.
Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons is the Australian organisation of endocrine surgeons whose role is the advancement of surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, endocrine pancreas, carcinoid and other endocrine tumours. It is one of a number of regional associations, with the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons (IAES) acting as an umbrella group for endocrine surgeons worldwide.
