Dr Robert McCurdie graduated from Sydney University in 1967 and has practiced as a General Surgeon in the Illawarra for 30 years. Dr McCurdie is semi-retired and he currently works as a Surgical assistant at both Wollongong and Shellharbour Private Hospitals, with many current Wollongong surgeons.

Dr Tanya Selak

Dr Tanya Selak is a Specialist Anaesthetist.

She provides anaesthesia services for patients at Wollongong Private Hospital, Wollongong and Shellharbour Public Hospitals and Wollongong Day Surgery. She trained in Auckland and London.

Dr Selak combines her busy clinical practice with her leadership role as Codirector of Anaesthesia at Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals. She enjoys the challenge of developing a team of 70 trainee and specialist anaesthetists and working collaboratively with the hospital executive and other lead clinicians to improve outcomes for our community.

Dr Adrian Sjarif

Dr Adrian Sjarif has commenced practice at Wollongong Surgical Associates. Dr Sjarif trained in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Sydney, followed by a 12-month fellowship in reconstructive surgery in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York and aesthetic surgery at the Marienhospital in Germany.He has a special interest in reconstructive & aesthetic breast surgery, including complex skin cancer surgery, cosmetic surgery and hand surgery.As an Illawarra local and one of two full-time plastic surgeons at Wollongong and Shellharbour hospitals, Dr Sjarif is excited about being able to offer patients of the Illawarra the full gamut of reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgical procedures.

Dr Soni Putnis

Dr Soni Putnis is a VMO in Colorectal & General Surgery. She practices in both the public and the private hospitals in the Illawarra, with her practice based at Wollongong Surgical Associates. Dr Putnis specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and management of benign and malignant conditions of the lower GI tract. She has a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery for bowel cancer.

Dr Putnis has an active interest in mentoring and teaching in the hospital setting. She is a Fellow of both the English and Australasian Royal College of Surgeons.

Dr Bruce Ashford

Dr Bruce Ashford is a Head & Neck and Endocrine surgeon. His main areas of interest are cancer surgery of the head & neck and the management of thyroid, parathyroid and salivary gland abnormalities. He established the microvascular reconstructive service for head and neck cancer in the Illawarra.

In addition to practising in both the public and private systems, he is currently undertaking a PhD in the genetic changes involved in metastatic cutaneous SCC.

Dr Andrew Still

Dr Andrew Still is a VMO in General & Colorectal surgery at Wollongong and Shellharbour Hospitals, and also operates regularly at Wollongong Private Hospital, Wollongong day surgery and Shellharbour Private Hospital.

Dr Still is a senior lecturer at The University of Wollongong. His interests include bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, hernia repair, endoscopy/colonoscopy and laparoscopic surgery.
